In psychotherapy you have the opportunity to deal with your feelings and your experiences. You get to know yourself better and become aware of the origin of your problems. This gives you the ability and confidence to positively influence your own situation.

Why does life seem so meaningless? Why do I always end up with the wrong partner? Why do I feel like I’m constantly under pressure?

If these questions agonise you and your body is starting to react – you feel tension, experience problems sleeping and feel depressed – then it’s time to stop making things difficult for yourself. By finding a common base to work on, we will take a path that will allow you to regain your well-being in an atmosphere of absolute openness and familiarity.

It is important to focus on working out solutions, developing perspectives and paying special attention to all that is positive. The therapy leads to a reduction in symptoms, more joy in your life, being more self assured and an improvement in social skills. Your psyche and your body learn to relax, you develop confidence and relationships with your fellow human beings in your private and professional life are greatly improved.

Understanding symptoms

The  symptoms are not often clear, because problems that require psychotherapy manifest themselves in many different ways. Mood swings, melancholy, listlessness and vulnerability are important indicators. In the context of psychotherapy, we begin to understand that physical complaints can be based on psychological causes.

Sleeping disorders and nightmares as well as memory problems and concentration difficulties or the loss of libido are some examples. Rationally incomprehensible fears, however suggest a trauma. Together we begin to understand the roots of this trauma.

Course of therapy

The course of the psychotherapeutic treatment depends on the type of symptoms and your needs. Elements are taken from cognitive behavioural therapy, analytical psychotherapy and systemic therapy to form an individual treatment concept for each client.

  • In behavioural therapy we differentiate between dysfunctional and functional behavioural and thought patterns.
  • Using client centered therapy clients explore their own behaviour with the help of the therapist, and in doing so regain their inherent capacity for self realisation and problem solving.
  • Analytical psychotherapy begins with the search for unconscious triggers which are then brought into consciousness. This in turn leads to a solution to the conflict.

  • In psychotherapy, systemic therapy seeks to address people not only on the individual level, but also as people in relationships, dealing with the interactions of groups and their interactional patterns and dynamics.

In my psychotherapeutic practice, I follow a mixed approach, which includes breathing and meditational exercises.

You do not need a referral from a doctor. As a self paying client you decide when and how often you come to me. I am looking forward to you taking the first step.

Initial consultation

In an initial consultation, you will describe your situation, and I will inform you about all possible therapy options.

The therapy takes place in 60 minute sessions which we schedule to fit into your weekly schedule.

Elements are taken from cognitive behavioural therapy, analytical psychotherapy, systemic therapy and client-centered therapy to form an individual treatment concept for each client.

Your questions about psychotherapy

The intention of Psychotherapy is to treat psychological problems. This is mostly done in the form of conversation and using relaxation or cognitive methods. Disorders leading to problems in your thought process, your actions and how you process an experience are also addressed during therapy.

Psychotherapists only use therapeutical methods recognized by national health insurance companies, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or psychoanalysis. An alternative practitioner for psychotherapy can choose appropriate methods with full freedom and does not have to provide documentation to the health insurance company. Another advantage is that you can get an appointment relatively fast.

Psychiatrists are doctors who can also provide a drug based therapy. In cases of severe depression or illnesses such as schizophrenia, a psychiatrist usually has to put the patient on medication. A therapist cannot prescribe such drugs.
